Dear Pamela,
Thank you for writing this. I relate. I had a similar experience last week while riding the streetcar and saw an ad for a 'pregnancy clinic'. It invited women (girls) to come to them in situations of unwanted pregnancy. It emphasized adoption and gave a contact for that. The ad sat wrong with me and then I noticed the tiny logo in the corner of the ad, a tiny happy cartoon of a dancing bible! Whoever this 'clinic' is, it looks to me like a pro-life (anti-choice) organization is setting up shop! I'm so worked up about this misleading ad suggesting medical treatment! Is Toronto heading toward the likes of Southern United States where pro-life fund and operate 'clinics' that by omission deny women choice and ethical treatment? This has to be a human rights violation on a few levels! I'm angry and can't shake it off. Something has to be done! A women or girl who is vulnerable may go to this clinic thinking she is going to be provided with ethical unbiased medical information. I'm seeing more and more of these very scary 'funding and political agenda' agencies gaining control of women's and family rights in very deceptive non transparent ways. Where is the oversight?
Clearly we need to start demanding it. I want to do something but have no idea how.
